1 - What is the Course Design Center?
The Course Design Center is a place where golf course
designers can get
together to work on courses. It is an "open-forum" type of site. Anyone
is welcome and there is no cost although you can still give me money anyway.
The course design center also offers many reviews, previews, competitions, and
much more!
2 - For which games does the Course Design Center operate?
The Course Design Center will have designing opportunities for GBC.
3 - Who runs the Course Design Center?
The Course Design Center is run by Russ Payne (Founded by Ben Timmons in 2000)
4 - How can I join the Course Design Center
team?
Anyone can join and its simple to do. All you need to do is send
me an e-mail with Course Design Center - Signup in the subject heading. Then
type in your name and other info in the message body. Someone will get back
to you quickly with information.
5 - I'm ready to start designing, where do I go?
Start by heading over to the "In Progress" section. There it will
list all the courses that are being currently designed. If you are interested
in helping out with one of the courses (i.e. Valhalla), just click on the course
name and it will bring up detailed info about that course. It will tell you which
holes are available to design, which holes are completed, what textures
the course is using, the sky/horizon, pars, yardages, trees in use, release
date, screenshots and the website where I found the information (pictures, overheads).
6- I've completed two holes, how do I get them
to you?
There are a couple of way that you can do this. First of
all, you can e-mail them to me zipped or upload via FTP. For now, the only option
is to e-mail. There are a couple of conditions that you must meet. First of
all, we do not accept courses with .bak files included. It is not necessary
to do overheads as they will be done by one person when the course is completed.
7 - Do you have any other tips for me?
Yes. With each course that is being designed, we will include a design package.
This design package includes the textures, skies or horizons, the trees, pictures,
overheads and any other relevant info to that course in one easy-to-use zip
file! This makes it easy for you the designer to do his job.
8 - What else does the Course Design Center Provide?
There are many different sections at the Course Design Center. We do reviews, previews, course of the week, design contests and much, much more. We will also have community member pages which will be updated soon!
Hopefully this will make you understand our site more, but please feel free to email me with any other questions!
